Question: My 2 year old dog eats
fine and seems okay, but I have noticed blood in his urine. What
can the matter be? Please help. He is real feisty and WILL NOT
let me put a leash on him. He has bit me before, so I have a problem
taking him in to a vet. Is there anything I can do short of prayer?
ANSWER: I have serious concerns about
keeping an animal that bites its owner! I suggest getting you
and your animal into the care of a behavioral trainer ASAP. Also,
any blood is not normal and is a SERIOUS concern. Your animal
needs to be seen by a vet when you first noticed the problem.
Discuss with your veterinarian ways to get the animal (and some
of it's urine) into the hospital for evaluation--your vet may
be able to prescribe a sedative and with the use of a muzzle,
you should be able to get the dog in--if you are at risk of handling
your own animal--you may want to consider euthanasia if you cannot
provide proper medical care to the pet due to it's disposition.
Good luck and be careful!
