Question: :This dog is 11.5 years old and is a diabetic. He is on 32 units a
day of insulin. The vet has him on W/D canine dry food which is expensive!
Is there any other high fiber food off the shelf that I can substitute? I
have to feed my second dog the same thing even though she is OK.,

ANSWER: Your dog has been placed on a prescription food, which was prescribed by your veterinarian for obvious reasons (but may have been prescribed to help other conditions for which I am not aware). You should approach your veterinarian with the fact that the prescribed food is unaffordable for two pets and he/she will be happy to help you find an alternative food that will be good for your pet's medical condition.
